Competition for School Students in Kvemo Kartli

"I Choose My Future"

Marneuli College announces a competition for school students titled "I Choose My Future." The competition is held in accordance with Decree N4588, issued by the Director of Marneuli College on April 1, 2025.

Objective of the Competition:

The goal is to raise awareness among students in Kvemo Kartli about vocational education in Georgia, introduce them to various professions and employment opportunities, and help them develop interpersonal communication and career planning skills.

Eligibility:

• Open to students from both Georgian and non-Georgian language schools.

• Age range: 13–18 years

Participation Requirements:

Participants must submit an essay in Georgian (maximum 2 pages, font size 11, in Sylfaen font) where they discuss their knowledge and thoughts about one or two of the following professions:

•  Nurse

•  Pharmacist

•  Cashier

•  IT Specialist

•  Masseur

•  Electrician

•  Culinary Specialist

•  Confectioner

•  Tailor

The essay should include:

• Personal understanding of the selected profession(s)

• Workplace and environment of professionals in the field

• (Optional) A brief example (4–5 sentences) of a well-known individual in the chosen profession

• Motivation for choosing the profession

• Vision of oneself in the profession in the future

• How this profession can benefit society or the country

• General knowledge of vocational education and vocational colleges in Georgia

Technical Requirements:

• Essay must be written in Georgian

• Font: Sylfaen, size 11

• Max 2 pages

• Must include: Full name, school name, grade

• Must be submitted from the participant’s personal email address

Submission deadline: May 14, 2024, by 18:00
Essays received after the deadline will not be considered.

Evaluation Criteria:

Essays will be assessed by a special jury (5 members) appointed by the College Director. The evaluation will be based on the following:

1. Understanding of vocational education and professions

2. Awareness of the societal role of the profession(s)

3. Clarity in expressing motivation for choosing the profession(s)

4. Motivation and desire to pursue the profession(s)

5. Structural quality of the essay

6. Level of independence in the submitted work

Points will be awarded based on these criteria. The top three scorers will be selected as winners. In the event of a tie, priority will be given to the essay’s structural quality.

• Jury session: May 21, 2024 (online or in-person)

• Winners announced: May 21, 2024

• Award ceremony: May 23, 2024, at 13:00

Prizes:

•  1st Place: 200 GEL ZUMER store voucher

•  2nd Place: 150 GEL ZUMER store voucher

•  3rd Place: 100 GEL ZUMER store voucher
